Our Grade 8 Reach Ahead mathematics program gives students the opportunity to complete Grade 9 Math (MTH1W) over the summer before officially entering high school. This early start provides students with a solid mathematical foundation and eases their transition into high school academics.
In this course, grade 8 students will explore essential topics such as algebra, geometry, and data management, ensuring they are well-prepared for future mathematics courses in high school.
In our Grade 9 English Language, students will improve their reading, writing, and speaking abilities. This course will help every student understand and analyze different types of texts, from stories to informational articles, and express their ideas clearly. It will also explore literature that reflects your experiences and heritage, making learning more meaningful and enjoyable.
Students will also make connections to their lived experiences and society and increase their understanding of the importance of language and literacy across the curriculum.
This course provides students with opportunities to communicate and interact in French, focusing on familiar topics related to their daily lives. Students will develop their skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing by using language learning strategies. They will also apply creative and critical thinking skills to various activities.
They will also explore French-speaking cultures around the world, connecting language learning with real-life contexts. This course is perfect for students who are new to French or want to improve their existing skills.
Why Enroll in the Grade 8 Reach Ahead Program?
By completing Grade 9 Math ahead of time, students gain key advantages that set them up for long-term success:
Increased Confidence
Mastering high school-level math before Grade 9 reduces anxiety and helps students feel more prepared.
More Space for Electives
Freeing up a course slot in high school allows students to explore subjects they are passionate about, from the arts to technology.
Reducing Failure Rates
Many high schools continue to teach Grade 9 Math in an academic style, which can be challenging for students who struggle with math. Our program provides structured guidance to ensure students start high school with a strong understanding, minimizing the risk of falling behind.
This program is especially beneficial because elementary students cannot fail a course, whereas high school students can. Students who have enrolled in the Reach Ahead course gained essential skills in a supportive environment, helping them start high school with confidence and success.
